Day 5 - Nature's Splendour
2021-05-12

Our brief update from Dixie this morning mirrored their very brief workday that was already completed.

Yesterday, the team advanced 100 metres. Yes, metres.

To make up for the disappointing lack of progression, the team optimistically awakened this morning at 04:00 to begin progression at 05:00. Three hours and 1.16 kilometres later, they established camp in a deep mist. They have decided to wait for the promised wind that should be in their vicinity by tomorrow. Today's current conditions remain too dicy due to low visibility, zero contrast between terrain and sky, and uneven sastrugi-filled terrain.

Their current position:

N 61° 35 18

W 46° 55 47

The stark disparity in Greenland's natural splendour is clear as one can see in the above images that were taken just hours apart. This beauty continues to sustain our team, even though the absence of any significant wind weighs heavy on their ambitious plans.

The good news is that a reliable breeze is waiting to blow just on the horizon. If the weather predictions hold, Joke, Seb and Dixie should enjoy two solid days of kiting starting tomorrow and lasting through Friday.
