Day 6 - 🌬
2021-05-13

Following a completely windless day yesterday, Joke (from The Netherlands), Seb (from Canada) and our Belgian guide Dixie ... launched their kites this morning and headed NORTH.

Dixie called as they were already underway with their starting position:

N 61° 35 19

W 46° 55 46

Yesterday the fog dissipated around noon followed by complete doldrums without a spit of air movement. The team participants took advantage of the gentle climate conditions to take photos around their campsite, including the above image of their national flags on the Greenland ice. They also caught up on the domestic tasks of tent life and made equipment checks and rechecks. In other words, they kept busy with preparations in the hope that the wind would materialise as predicted.

This morning they arose early to hear their auditory reward of the tents flapping in the breeze.

We hope to be able to share some significant progress with you in tomorrow's update.

In the meantime, Dixie plans to progress conservatively so that each person can build up his or her kite technique and muscles due to the traction of the heavy sleds.

You may follow their new speed of advancement at Expeditions Unlimited with the LiveExplorer tracking system.
